As we age, our body starts showing signs of wear and tear. Since our feet carry us through life, they’re often the first to get injured and develop certain conditions that can negatively impact our lives. Just like the tires on our cars, our feet have limits. But unlike our tires, we can’t get new feet. That’s why taking care of our feet and showing them love is so important. At Advanced Foot Care of NJ, we want to share a few helpful tips and tricks for how to keep your feet feeling healthy and pain-free, no matter your age.

Wear the right kind of footwear. One of the biggest culprits of daily foot and ankle pain is not wearing appropriate shoes. Getting your feet properly measured at your shoe store and picking a pair that offers support, comfort, and enough room for your toes can make a world of a difference. In addition, choosing the right shoes for each activity is your best bet. Work on your feet all day? Lightweight sneakers with arch support are your best bet. Going for a hike in the woods? Pick specific hiking boots with a thick sole and ankle support.
Embrace self-care for your feet. Giving your feet some extra attention at the start or end of the day can make a big impact – and it’s one of the easiest ways to keep your feet healthy. Wash your feet daily with soap and warm water. Dry thoroughly, making sure to get in between your toes. And always wear clean, dry socks.
Inspect your feet daily. Catching any problems before they escalate helps prevent serious side effects and damage. Taking a few minutes throughout your week to look at your feet and check for any blisters, cuts, swelling, bruising, redness, or other issues is important. Ignoring your pain or concerns may make a potential problem worse.
