How To Keep Your Orthotics In Good Shape
Custom-fitted orthotics play an important role in keeping your feet healthy and comfortable. If you own a pair prescribed by your podiatrist, you know how crucial keeping them in good shape is. Taking care of your inserts can allow you to continue using them for years.
What You Should Know
What are custom-molded orthotics? They’re foot inserts designed to fit your feet, give you comfort and support, and treat any conditions you might have. They accommodate your unique foot structure and pathology.
Caring For Your Orthotics
Keep your orthotics in good shape and help them last as long as possible with these care tips:
- Wear your orthotics only in the shoes for which they were designed to keep them in their proper shape.
- Take your orthotics out of your shoes every night so they can air.
- Don’t expose your orthotics to excessive sun or heat.
- Clean your orthotics regularly. Wash them with a clean cloth and a mild soap and water solution. Rinse and let dry out completely – not in the sun or a clothes dryer. Orthotics with leather tops should not be washed.
- Avoid using a chemical solvent for cleaning.
- Never use a washing machine or a dishwasher to clean your orthotics.
