March is National Nutrition Month
March is National Nutrition Month, and there is one thing that we can all agree on: what we eat can affect our feet. If we choose healthy options, our feet can stay healthy and happy. Here’s another statement: staying active helps us stay on track with our health, too. If we choose not-so-healthy options, we may develop conditions that can impact our overall health.
Remember, the state of our foot health is tied to our overall health. This National Nutrition Month, Advanced Foot Care of NJ, LLC is sharing three ways to get on the right track.
Check-in on your feet
Could you be missing the signs of health problems? By looking down, we can often catch signs of other issues. Swelling, for example, could be an early sign of heart disease. Poor circulation could signal diabetes. Slow-healing wounds could also signal a circulation problem. Don’t miss the opportunity to detect problems early and begin a treatment plan.
- Inspect your feet daily
- Look for changes or problems that won’t go away
- Contact us immediately if you see signs of infection
Address foot problems that make moving a challenge
If you’re having foot pain, you won’t be excited to exercise. In fact, we don’t want you to push through the pain. Instead, contact our office. We’ll help you identify the cause of the pain and treat the condition. We’ll also share ways to prevent the condition from returning. Once you’re pain-free, you’re on the right path to adding regular physical activity to your day.
- Treat injuries promptly
- Visit a podiatrist instead of guessing
- If you feel pain, stop the activity
Fix your plate
Are you eating enough fruits and vegetables each day? There are ways to make small changes now. Start by adding more color to your plate. Sprinkle in fruit while making your oatmeal. Prepare snacks at home instead of visiting the vending machine each day. Fix your eyes on fiber and other foods that make you feel great.
- Ask for help and use community resources
- Invite the family to eat healthier
- Get creative with fun, healthy snacks
We’re celebrating a healthier way of living, too! Allow us to partner with you and be the support you need.
